In fact, if they failed to appear on any regular assessment graphs that would probably be the best measure of all. The less they are seen, the better the job they are doing.

It can only be hoped that NZC knows what it is doing in changing its management of the New Zealand team because if there is the slightest inkling that it doesn't then the blow to the game's stature might be terminal.

Already fans are having to cope with the blustering administration of the International Cricket Council and the almighty grab for money which has seriously detracted from the appeal of the game.

NZC is not that well off that it can afford to discount (pardon the pun) the effect continuing upheavals will have on its support base.
